Harris tosses a no-hitter in 9-0 win against Penn State, Roby notches two-hitter in 8-0 win over Wichita State
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Louisville softball team posted a pair of shutouts, defeating Penn State 9-0 behind junior Chardonnay Harris's no-hitter and following with a two-hit shutout from Taylor Roby in an 8-0 win against Wichita State Friday afternoon at Alabama's Rhoads Stadium.

The Cardinals (4-7) will take on Wichita State again Saturday at 12 p.m. followed by a matchup against host No. 10/13 Alabama at 2:30 p.m.

Louisville 9 – Penn State 0 (5 inn.)
Louisville scored a season-high nine runs in five innings to back Harris who allowed only one base runner via a walk and struck out four en route to her first no-hitter at UofL.
Redshirt sophomore Taylor Roby connected on a home run and tallied two RBIs to pace Cardinals offensively. Every player in the starting lineup registered a run or an RBI in the win.

The teams played through three innings before the Cards broke through with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth. Roby led off the frame and sent a 1-0 count over the right field fence for her team-best fifth homer of the season to put Louisville on top 1-0. One out later, redshirt junior Carmyn Greenwood delivered a double and then score on an RBI hit by sophomore Charley Butler.

The Cards capitalized on seven hits and an error to score seven runs in the fifth and put the game out of reach. Hits by freshman Jenna Servi, senior Celene Funke and junior Maddy Newman loaded the bases for Roby who earned a walk to plate Servi. Singles by Cassady Greenwood, Caitlin Ferguson, Funke and Carmyn Greenwood brought home five more runs and Ferguson crossed the plate when freshman Elana Ornelas reached on a fielder's choice.

Penn State (5-6) had a runner in scoring position only once in the game when Claire Swedberg drew a walk and stole second in the first. Harris and the Louisville defense went on to retire the final 14 batters in the contest.

Bailey Parshall (2-1) took the loss after allowing six earned runs on seven hits and striking out six in 4.0 innings.

Louisville 8 – Wichita State 0 (5 inn.)
Carmyn Greenwood went 3-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and a stolen bases. Roby and junior Jordyn Wolfe finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Newman earned three walks and scored twice with a pair of stolen bases with Funke and Cassady Greenwood adding to Louisville's total of seven stolen bases, matching the program record set against Morehead State on March 12, 2019.

The Cardinals jumped to an early lead with five runs in the bottom of the first. Funke and Newman drew back-to-back walks. A wild pitch sent Funke to third and Newman stole second to set up Roby's two-run single. Cassady Greenwood was safe on a bunt single and pinch-runner Charley Butler stole third to put runners on the corners. Carmyn Greenwood's bunt saw Butler safe at the plate and a double steal sent Cassady Greenwood home. Rebecca Chung's groundout plated Greenwood to cap the five-run inning.

Louisville added another run in the second when Newman walked, took second on Roby's hit, stole third and scored on Cassady Greenwood's second hit of the game.

• With her home run in the win over Penn State, Taylor Roby now has a career-best five this season, surpassing last year's total (4).
