The senior won the event by four shots with a 210
WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - University of Louisville women's golfer Lauren Hartlage has added another accolade to her resume, as she won the Women's Orlando International Amateur Sunday, January 5. The UofL senior won the tournament by four strokes.
The event was played at the par-72, 6,011-yard Orange County National Golf Center & Lodge. The Women's Orlando International Amateur Championship is an annual golf tournament gathering high-level amateur golfers from the United States of America and abroad. It is a 54-hole stroke play championship, playing 18 holes per day.
"I am very excited to win the Orlando International Amateur," Hartlage said. "I have played in this tournament the past four years and to be able to win my senior year, is very special. I have been working hard this winter to get ready for our spring season and being able to get a win this week is a great momentum builder for our first event in February."
Hartlage led wire-to-wire at the three-day event, finishing with a 54-hole score of 6-under-par 210. She was the only golfer in the 83 player field to shoot par or better in all three rounds. For the tournament, she carded 11 birdies, 38 pars and only five bogeys. She birdied the par-5, 460-yard No. 18 all three rounds.
Hartlage opened the tournament by carding the lowest round by anyone on the weekend, shooting a bogey-free round of 5-under-par 67. She was the only player in the field to record a bogey-free round on the weekend.
Day two saw a weather delay of over two hours, but Hartlage managed to pull through the tough conditions to finish with an even-par 72. She ended the round with three birdies.
Hartlage entered the final round with a two-shot lead and finished her weekend with a 1-under-par 71, tied for the lowest round of the day. She recorded three birdies on the afternoon to cap off her victory.
Fellow UofL seniors Meghan Nay and Delaney Shah also competed in the event. Nay finished tied for 50th, while Shah tied for 61st.
The Cardinals kick off their spring season when they host the Moon Golf Invitational February 17-18 in Melbourne, Florida.
