Cardinals Place Six on 2019 All-ACC Academic Team

Players must have a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The University of Louisville volleyball team placed six players on the 36-member 2019 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team.Â
Florida State's Taryn Knuth, the 2019 ACC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, headlines the as announced today by the league office.

Knuth, a junior majoring in sport management from Johnston, Iowa, was also the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, an All-ACC First Team honoree and a member of the AVCA East All-Region Team. A three-time All-ACC Academic honoree, Knuth has a 3.956 career grade point average and has received multiple FSU President's Lists and dean's list laurels. She ranked fourth in the nation in blocks this season and fifth in the league in hitting percentage.

In addition to Knuth, 15 other All-ACC honorees made the All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team.

The 2019 All-ACC Academic Volleyball Team has 13 institutions represented among the 36 honorees. Pitt led the league with seven selections, followed by Louisville with six. Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina each had four honorees, while Clemson, Duke and Wake Forest had two apiece. Miami, NC State, Syracuse, Virginia and Virginia Tech each had one selection.

Florida State's Taylor Roberts and Madison Sullivan, North Carolina's Mia Fradenburg and Wake Forest's Caitlin Clarke received 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and Pitt's Stephanie Williams received All-ACC Academic recognition for the fourth time in her career. Knuth and Louisville's Melanie McHenry were named to the All-ACC Academic team for the third time in their careers, and seven student-athletes received the honor for the second time.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0 grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
