Cardinals to host 16th annual Cardinal Cup Oct. 18-20 at the UofL Golf Club
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville's new women's golf head coach Whitney Young announced the team's 2019-20 schedule Wednesday, July 17. The Cardinals will play in nine regular season tournaments, while hosting a pair of tournaments.
Young kicks off her first season as the head coach of the Cardinals September 9-10 at the Minnesota Invitational. It is the third-consecutive season UofL begins its season in suburban Minneapolis.
Louisville spends three straight weeks on the road traveling to the Mason Rudolph Championship just outside Nashville Sept. 20-22, the Schooner Fall Classic Sept. 27-29 in Norman, Oklahoma, and wrapping up with the Illini Women's Invitational in Medinah, Illinois, Oct. 7-8.
The Cardinals close out their fall season hosting the 16th annual Cardinal Cup October 18-20 at the UofL Gold Club. Louisville is looking to win its ninth Cardinal Cup after finishing third a season ago.
Louisville returns to action in the spring with the annual Battle of the Bluegrass State dual match vs. Kentucky. The location and date are still to be determined. The Cardinals have won the last two Battles of the Bluegrass State, and lead the all-time series 4-1.
For the third straight season the Cardinals will host the Moon Golf Invitational Feb. 17-18 in Melbourne, Florida, at the Duran Golf Club. Louisville's own Lauren Hartlage captured the individual medalist honors last year with a 10-under-par 206.
The Cards take a month off before returning to action March 13-15 for the Clover Cup in Mesa, Arizona. The regular wraps up with back-to-back tournaments, beginning March 27-29 at the Evans Derby Experience in Auburn, Alabama, and then April 7-8 at the Grove Cup in West Point, Mississippi.
Louisville's postseason begins at the ACC Championship April 23-26 in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The ACC Championship moves to a new format this year, with the top four teams after 54 holes of stroke play advancing to a two-day match play event. The new format is similar to the NCAA Championship format.
Two weeks later, the NCAA Regional's will be held May 11-13, at one of four sites: Athens, Georgia; Notre Dame, Indiana; Pullman, Washington; and, Raleigh, North Carolina. The 2019 season saw the Cardinals make their sixth straight NCAA Regional appearance, the longest streak in program history. Louisville will host an NCAA Regional next year in May of 2021.
The 2020 NCAA National Championship takes place at Grayhawk Golf Club May 22-27 in Tempe, Arizona, hosted by Arizona State.
