
Cardinals Close the Regular Season at the Stitch Intercollegiate

The Cardinals will begin play on Friday morning.
The University of Louisville men's golf team concludes the 2018-19 regular season, as they travel to Cary, North Carolina to compete in the Stitch Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will be played Friday and Saturday at the MacGregor Downs Country Club. The No. 21 Cardinals will be the third-highest ranked team in the tournament, No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 20 Liberty, No. 26 NC State, No. 34 South Florida, No. 41 Campbell, Davidson, East Carolina, Virginia Tech, Maryland, VCU, Richmond, Toledo and Old Dominion

The Cardinals return to North Carolina to compete in the Stitch Intercollegiate, which features five ACC teams, including No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 9 Duke and No. 21 Louisville. The Cardinals are coming off another solid finish by tying for second place at the John Hayt Invitational.
Sophomore Matthias Schmid posted his fifth top-five finish this season by finishing in a tie for third, despite shooting a 1-over-par 216. He placed in a tie for fourth at the Linger Longer Invitational with his score of 6-under-par.
Schmid shot an opening round score of 65 and entered the final round at 6-under-par. However, due to the adverse conditions, Schmid shot a final round 77 to the the tournament at 1-under-par.
Junior John Murphy was the second Cardinal to finish in the top 15 by firing a 5-over-par 221 to finish in a tie for 14th place. Entering the final round at 1-over-par, Murphy battled with a 4-over-76 to post his best finish since a sixth-place ending at the Seminole IntercollegiateÂ
Freshman Jiri Zuska and Devin Morley each tied for 40th after shooting a 13-over-par 229, while Simon Zach tied for 49th after carding a total of 230.
