Cards and Eagles meet Sunday for a chance to play in the NCAA semifinals
The fifth-ranked University of Louisville field hockey team will face No. 7 Boston College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament Sunday at 1 p.m. at Trager Stadium. The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the NCAA Semifinals which will be held November 22 and 24 at Wake Forest's Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Sunday's matchup against No. 7 Boston College marks the second time the ACC opponents will meet this season. The first resulted in a 3-2 win for the Cardinals at BC on September 27. The teams have met six times with Louisville owning a 4-2 edge in the all-time series.

The Cardinals (16-5) are coming off of a dramatic 2-1 double-overtime win against No. 11 Michigan on Friday. The win marked Louisville's first in the NCAA tournament and tied a school record for victories in a season. The feat is another milestone in an already-monumental season for the Cardinals who earned the overall No. 4 seed and hosting the first and second round for the first time history.

The forward from Melbourne, Australia recently moved to ninth on Louisville's all-time list for single season goals and career goals (25). The Eagles (14-7) earned an at-large bid following a runner-up showing in the ACC Championship. BC fell 3-1 to top-ranked North Carolina in last Sunday's conference title match. BC is making its 12th NCAA tournament appearance and its first since the 2016 season.

The Eagles are guided by ACC Coach of the Year Kelly Doton while Margo Carlin was named ACC Freshman of the Year and leads the team with 18 goals and 42 points. Fusine Govaert joined Carlin on the all-Conference first team and Sky Caron earned second team honors. Â
