No. 23 Cardinals Host Lipscomb to Kick Off NCAA Tournament Play

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 23 Louisville women's soccer team will start NCAA Tournament play on Friday, Nov. 15 as they host Lipscomb in Lynn Stadium at 6:00 p.m. This will be the first time the Cardinals have hosted in the NCAA Tournament since the 2013 season.
The Cardinals earned an at-large bid for the second straight year after finishing the year with an overall record of 12-4-2 and 5-3-2 in ACC play. Louisville finished the regular season fourth in the ACC standings, earning their highest finish in the ACC.
Emina Ekic leads the Cardinals on the season with eight goals and seven assists for 23 points. Snyder ranks second on the team with four goals and one assist for nine points. Junior keeper Gabby Kouzelos leads the team in goal with a 0.74 goals against average. She owns a 12-4-2 record along with eight shutouts.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 20th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to six NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING LIPSCOMB
Lipscomb (13-5-2) clinched their second-straight NCAA berth after claiming the ASUN regular season and tournament championships. The Bisons won the conference tournament in dramatic fashion by defeating No. 5 seed Kennesaw State, 4-3 in a penalty shootout.
Olivia Doak leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points. Molly Grant and Maycie McKay are tied for second on the team with six goals and seven assists for 19 points. Melissa Gray leads the Bisons between the posts and owns a 0.78 goals against average and has collected 77 saves.

The Cardinals will be making their sixth NCAA Championship appearance, their first back-to-back appearances since the 2006 and 2007 seasons. The Cards are hosting an NCAA Tournament game for the first time since the 2013 season. Louisville owns a record of 2-3-2 in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals made their deepest run in the NCAA Tournament during the 2011 season, advancing to the Sweet 16.

Nine Atlantic Coast Conference women's soccer teams were selected to the 2019 NCAA Championship, while three teams earned No. 1 seeds. The ACC's nine teams are the most of any league and marks the second consecutive year that the conference has earned the distinction. All nine teams will host a first-round matchup and it is the 11th time in the last 12 years that at least eight league teams have been selected.
