Hartlage Tied for Lead After First Day of Illini Invitational

Cardinals sit three shots back of Kent State for the team lead entering the final day
MEDINAH, Ill. - University of Louisville women's golfer Lauren Hartlage is tied for the lead after the first day of the Illini Women's Invitational. As a team, the Cardinals sit in second place through 36 holes with a team score of 570, three shots off the lead.

Hosted by Illinois as the Medinah Country Club - Course No. 2, the par-72 course is being played at 6,159 yards.

Kent State holds a three-shot lead over the Cards after finishing the day at 9-under-par 567. UofL sits four shots up on third place Illinois. Louisville leads all teams with 34 birdies through two rounds. The team also leads all squads in par-5 scoring at 11-under-par and is second in par-4 scoring. Louisville carded a team score of even-par 288 during the first round and a 6-under-par 282 during the second.

Lauren Hartlage shares the individual lead with Mikhaela Fortuna of Oklahoma with a two-round score of 5-under-par 139. "I was able to put together two solid rounds today thanks to my consistent ball striking," Hartlage said. She finished her first round with a 2-under-par 70, carding three birdies and just one bogey.

Hartlage improved by one shot during the second round, shooting a 3-under-par 69. During the second round, Hartlage carded birdies on Nos. 4, 5 and 17, without making a bogey. "I'm looking forward to rolling in some putts tomorrow and giving ourselves a chance to move up," Hartlage adds.
One shot back in a tie for third is Mairead Martin. She leads the 84-player field after recording 11 birdies on day one. All 11 birdies came on a different hole. "I played solid from tee to green today," Martin said. "I've been trying to stay patient with my game recently, so I'm glad it all finally came together." During the first 18 holes Martin finished with an even-par 72 that included four birdies. She concluded her second 18 by shooting a 4-under-par 68, a new career-low, with seven birdies. Her second-round 68 is also tied for the second lowest round by anyone in the tournament.
Hana Ryskova is tied for 25th place with a 1-over-par 145. She shot rounds of 72 and 73, while recording five birdies on the day. She also carded one of only two eagles on the day, coming on No. 7, a 493-yard par-5. After a solid tee shot, Ryskova reached the green in two with a hybrid from 230 yards out. She earned the first eagle of her collegiate career when she sank an uphill 14-foot putt.
Playing in her first collegiate tournament, freshman Agustina Gomez Cisterna sits one stroke back in a tie for 27th. Gomez Cisterna carded a 74 during her opening round before finishing the day with an even-par 72. She finished with a pair of birdies during each round.

Delaney Shah rounded out the team scoring for the Cardinals in a tie for 32nd place with a 147. Shah carded two birdies in the first round to finish with a 74. She came back in the second round shooting six birdies, four of which came on the front nine, to finish with a 73.

The final round of the Illini Women's Invitational begins tomorrow, October 8, at 9:00 a.m. CT.

She also carded one of only two eagles on the day, coming on No. 7, a 493-yard par-5. After a solid tee shot, Ryskova reached the green in two with a hybrid from 230 yards out. She earned the first eagle of her collegiate career when she sank an uphill 14-foot putt.
