Cardinal Men Finish Second While Women Finish Sixth at the Louisville Cross Country Classic

Louisville men post a second consecutive Top Three finish
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's cross country team finished second and the women's team finished sixth at the Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday afternoon. The men had three finishers in the Top 15 to lift the Cards while the women had three finishers in the Top 25 .
Sophomore Emmanuel Cheboson ran a personal best 8K time of 23:13.4 to lead the Cardinals. He finished fifth for his second straight top five finish. Junior Albert Kosgei also placed in the top-10, finishing eighth. He also finished with a personal best 8K time of 23:45.8. Freshman Isaac Kiprop ran a collegiate best time of 24:00.2 to finish 12th. Junior Cameron Stephens finished 43rd with a new collegiate best time of 24:31.7 , while freshmen Shadrack Kipkosgei and Christian Parker rounded out the Cardinals' scoring. In the overall tally, the Cards placed second with 111 points, Middle Tennessee took first with 81 points.
In the women's race, sophomore Ivine Chemutai led the Cards with a top five finish. Chemutai ran a personal best 5K time of 16:54.6 to finish fourth. It was the second straight top 10 finish for Chemutai. Junior Bailey Beery ran a 5K collegiate best time of 17:04.7 to finish sixth. The finish marks the first career top 10 finish for Beery. Kassidy Manning logged her first top 25 finish of the season. She finished 21st with a time of 17:36.9. The remainder of the Cards' scoring came from sophomore Lindsey Fanz and senior Lauren Radenhausen. The Cards placed sixth in the overall tally, with Middle Tennessee topping with 103 points.
The Cards will now turn their attention to Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
