Cardinals Set for ACC Cross Country Championship on Friday

LOUISVILLE Ky - The University of Louisville men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the ACC Championships this Friday, Nov. 1 in Blacksburg, Va. The race will be ran at Virginia Tech's Buford Meredith Cross Country Course. This is the second time the race will be held at Virginia Tech, the first since 2012.

The men's 8k race will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the women's 6k race with begin at 11:00 a.m. The action will be shown live on the ACC Network Extra.

Fifteen schools will be represented at the ACC Championship. On the men's side, defending ACC champion Notre Dame is ranked No. 20 in the country. Other nationally ranked teams include: No. 21 Florida State, No. 23 NC State, and No. 24 Virginia. The women's side features two teams ranked in the top 10 nationally. Defending ACC Champion NC State at No. 6 and Florida State at No. 10. Other nationally ranked teams include No. 17 Notre Dame and host No. 22 Virginia Tech.

The top 21 finishers in both the men's and women's race will receive All-ACC recognition.

On the men's side, sophomore Emmanuel Cheboson, freshman Issac Kiprop, and junior Albert Kosgei have each had strong seasons. Cheboson has two top five finishes this season. Kiprop has won ACC Freshman of the Week honors twice. Kosgei has two top 10 finishes under his belt.

On the women's side, the team has finished in the top 10 at both the Commodore Classic and the Louisville Cross Country Classic. Sophomore Ivine Chemutai has finished in the top 10 in all three events this season. Junior Bailey Beery has also put together a strong season with two top 10 finishes to her name.
