
Chad Scores 12 Goals in Sweep of Marquette, Butler

Tessa Chad led the team with four goals against Marquette and eight against Butler.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville lacrosse downed Marquette, 16-11, and Butler, 22-12, to open fall play on Sunday afternoon.

In the opener against Marquette, it took the Cardinals nearly 18 minutes to get on the board before cruising to a 16-11 win.

Trailing 4-2 with just over 10 minutes to go in the first half, Louisville reeled off three straight goals, two by Caroline Blalock and one by Tessa Chad, and went to the locker room tied at 5-5.

With just under 20 minutes to go in the game, Marquette took an 8-7 lead on a free position goal, but the Cardinals outscored the Golden Eagles 9-3 the rest of the way to seal the win.

Chad led the Cardinals with four goals, while Blalock and Ally Hall added hat tricks of their own. Sarah Blalock, Hannah Morris, Paige Richbourg, Alex McNicholas, Kirsten Parker and Shayla Scanlan also added goals for Louisville.

Hall led the way with two assists, while Chad and Kristen Pezzullo finished with one assist. Maddie Birch and Richbourg added two groundballs.

Rachel Florek helped lead the charge in the second half in goal as she allowed just six goals, while recording 11 saves.
In the second game against Butler, Louisville jumped out to a 9-0 lead on Hall's third goal of the contest at 15:44.
Butler rallied to pull within three on three different occasions, but the Cardinals responded with eight unanswered goals to cruise to a double-digit victory.
Chad led the way for the second game in a row with eight goals on 12 shots. Hall, Caroline Blalock and Sarah Blalock added three goals each, while Caroline Blalock led the team with three assists.
Jen Schaaf played all 60 minutes in goal, accumulating eight saves.
Louisville continues fall play next Sunday at noon when travel to Columbus to face Ohio State.
