
Cardinals Head Out to Georgia Tech and Clemson

UofL takes its 2-0 ACC record on the road
The University of Louisville volleyball team continues its stretch of ACC road matches with visits to Georgia Tech and Clemson this weekend. The Cardinals will take on Georgia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. and Clemson on Sunday at 1 p.m.Â
Louisville opened ACC play last weekend with wins over NC State, 3-1 (25-19, 28-26, 20-25, 25-18) and North Carolina, 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-27, 15-13). This was the first time since 2015 that the Cardinals have opened conference play with two wins. The weekend trip saw the Cardinals record 30 blocks in the two contests, a weekend series high. Melanie McHenry continues to be the workhorse on offense, bringing her season total to 162 kills. She has also recorded 102 digs, second to Molly Sauer's 213. Megan Sloan shone last weekend. In her first two starts against conference opponents, Sloan helped lead the Cards to a weekend sweep. Â She had 28 kills, 10 blocks over the weekend, hitting a torrid .372 in the five-setter with UNC.Â
Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets (11-4 overall) opened their conference play this past weekend with road losses to Syracuse, 3-0 (14-25, 25-27, 21-25) and Boston College, 3-1 (18-25, 22-25, 25-20, 18-25). Mariana Brambilla's 208 kills power the Georgia Tech offense, while Maddie Tippett's 190 digs help guide the defense. Kodie Comby has 55 blocks on the season, averaging 1.04 blocks per set.Â
Clemson
The Tigers (9-6 overall) also opened ACC play against Syracuse and Boston College over the weekend. Friday's conference opener saw Clemson fall to Boston College 3-0 (17-25, 17-25, 19-25) followed by a Sunday loss to Syracuse 3-1 (20-25, 18-25, 25-20, 21-25). Brooke Bailey has a team-top 165 kills for the Tigers. Torie Frederick has accumulated 216 digs on the season to lead the defense.Â

UofL seniors Jasmine Bennett, Wilma Rivera, Amanda Green, and Molly Sauer account for 370 of Louisville's 579 digs (.639 of the team digs.)Â
Juniors Pulling their WeightÂ
Two juniors (Melanie McHenry and Megan Sloan) account for 278 of UofL's 625 kills, which is .445 of the scoring.Â
