LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The No. 6 Louisville men's soccer team concludes its two-match homestand with an ACC clash against Pittsburgh on Friday at 7:30 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The match will be televised on ACC Network Extra, while live stats will be available at GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville, ranked 6th in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25, enters Friday's contest with a 4-1-1 record overall following Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Charlotte. The Cardinals, who earned a 1-0 win at Boston College last Friday, are atop the ACC Atlantic with six points equaling the total for Wake Forest.
Geoffrey Dee, Cherif Dieye and Adam Wilson lead the Cardinals with two goals each, while Elijah Amo, Ziyad Fekri and Kino Ryosuke each have one goal this season. Sophomores Jake Gelnovatch and Will Meyer have shared the goalkeeping duties this season with Gelnovatch registering two shutouts in his four starts and Meyer earning one shutout in his two starts.Â

Pitt's ACC match against NC State previously schedule for Sept. 14 was postponed until Sept. 25 due to Hurricane Florence. The Panthers were 8-10-0 overall last season, including a 2-6-0 mark in the ACC.

Tate Schmitt was among 30 men's soccer student-athletes who excel both on and off the field named as candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Each of the 60 candidates (30 men's candidates and 30 women's candidates) has displayed a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the pitch with 34 returning after earning first-team conference honors, 30 having grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher, nine being on the MAC Hermann Watch List for 2018 and seven returning All-Americans. Outside of academics and athletics, all candidates also have been consistently involved in community service on their campus or in their communities.
Each of the two candidate classes will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
