Cards open fall play Sept. 16, host Louisville Fall Invitational Oct. 19-21
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's tennis head coach Rex Ecarma has announced the Cardinals' 2018 fall schedule, which features 12 tournaments spanning from September to November. Fans will have the opportunity to see the Cards in action at the annual Louisville Invitational, which will be held Oct. 19-21 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"I am excited about a fresh new season for us," said Ecarma. "We have four new players and six returners. We are playing some of the best fall college tournaments in the country mixed in with some Pro Futures Tournaments as well. I know that the seniors want to finish strong and leave a legacy and the freshmen want to make a name of themselves. This team and coaching staff are highly motivated to have a great fall campaign, and we have the schedule to do it."
To kick off the fall season, the Cards will split into two units, traveling to both the Duke Invitational in Cary, N.C. and the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. on Sept. 14-16. Two weeks later, select team members will make the trip to Tulsa, Okla. for the All-American National Championships from Sept. 29 – Oct. 7.
Louisville will then head north to South Bend, Ind. on Oct. 5-7 for the Notre Dame Invitational for the first of five different tournaments over the course of the month. Just four days later, the Cards are slated to compete at the Ohio Valley Regional in Knoxville, Tenn. on Oct. 11-15.
The Cards then return home to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for the Louisville Invitational at the midway point of October before splitting up once again for the USA F29 Futures in Birmingham, Ala. on Oct. 25-29 and the FCGU Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla. on Oct. 26-28.
The final two weeks of fall tournament action begins the first weekend of November, where the Cards will divide into three units from Nov. 1-5 to compete at the Dick Vitale/Lakewood Ranch Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., the Oracle National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz. and the USA F30 Futures in Niceville, Fla. The final tournament of the Cards' fall schedule will take place from Nov. 9-11 with the location to be announced at a later date.
