Hartlage, Cason, Skapik Sweep Kentucky Women’s Open

Lauren Hartlage defeated teammate Olivia Cason in a one-hole playoff for the title.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky Women's Open Championship, a two-day event at the UofL Golf Club that attracts some of the best talent in the state, came down to a one-hole playoff on Wednesday between a pair of University of Louisville women's golfers.
Lauren Hartlage, who shot a remarkable 5-under-par 67 on Tuesday, defeated teammate Olivia Cason on hole No. 10 in the playoff to win her first career title in the event. Hartlage, the runner-up last year, capped this year's tournament with a remarkable 6-under-par 138.
The Bowling Green, Ky., native, Hartlage led the field by three strokes after hole No. 15. Cason earned birdies on Nos. 17 and 18 to climb the leaderboard, tying Hartlage with a 6-under-par 138 through 36 holes.
Former Louisville standout Molly Skapik had a strong showing in the second round, entering the day tied for fourth. The now-professional golfer shot a 4-under-par 68 on Wednesday, aided by four birdies over her final nine holes, to win the professionals division and take third overall. Skapik captured the tournament title in 2017.
Former Cardinals' golfer Laura Restrepo and rising sophomore Kristin Engle also finished in the top 10. Restrepo, who was the program's first all-ACC honoree, placed fifth with a 2-over-par 146, while Engle tied for sixth behind a 3-over-par 147.
Rising junior Meghan Nay tied for 29th, and former Louisville golfer Candice (Wiley) Iceman tied for 40th.
