LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's golfer Olivia Cason is participating in the 2018 U.S. Women's Open Thursday through Sunday at Shoal Creek Golf and Country Club in Shoal Creek, Ala.
The 156-player field, which consists of both professionals and amateurs, will play on the par-72, 6,689-yard course. Each of the four days features 18 holes of stroke play. The field is cut to the low 60 scorers and ties after the first 36 holes.
The U.S. Women's Open is the oldest championship open to women professionals and amateurs.
In early May, Cason won the sectional qualifier in Indiana, Pa., shooting a 1-under-par 143 to secure the only advancing spot in the 36-player field.
The Owensboro, Ky., native, Cason helped lead Louisville to the final round of stroke play at the NCAA Championships last week. The junior was third on the team in stroke average at 74.74, totaling 10 rounds even or below par. She registered two top-10 finishes.
FS1 will provide television coverage on Thursday and Friday from 3-8 p.m. ET, while FOX will televise the event on Saturday and Sunday from 2-7 p.m. ET.
