Parker Wynn will be making his second consecutive doubles tournament appearance.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis doubles team of Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn have been selected to compete in the 2018 NCAA Championship, which will be held May 24-28 in Winston-Salem, N.C. on the campus of Wake Forest University.
"So happy to see the NCAA Committee choose Chris and Parker for the NCAA Doubles Championship," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "This is two in a row for the program and Parker Wynn. They have been ranked high all year with their best being No. 6 in the nation. They made it to the National Fall Championship semifinals last semester, so they are familiar with the competition and pressure. Lastly, I am glad that these two great guys who are my team leaders got rewarded."
The Cardinals' standout doubles duo is coming off a stellar regular season, where they have been recognized in the ITA National Rankings all ten weeks they were eligible, reaching as high as No. 6 at the conclusion of the fall tournament season. Currently, they are ranked No. 16 in the standings, which were released on April 24.
Morin-Kougoucheff and Wynn have compiled an overall record of 27-10 and are 15-5 at No. 1 in dual match play. The duo has registered a 6-3 record against other nationally ranked competitors and earned ACC Doubles Team of the Week after defeating defending national champion Virginia on March 2.
With their at-large bid, Morin-Kougoucheff and Wynn become the eighth doubles team in program history to be selected for the NCAA Championships. Wynn will be making his second consecutive doubles tournament appearance after receiving an at-large bid alongside Sean Donohue, the Cardinals first since 2011.
Morin-Kougoucheff was also selected as an alternate for the NCAA singles tournament. The junior, who was tabbed at No. 62 in the latest ITA singles rankings, has been recognized in the national rankings six times throughout the season, reaching as high as No. 53.
