Louisville Caps Off 3-0 Weekend with Wins over Florida State and Southern Indiana

With the win over Southern Indiana, the Cards tied their regular season win total from last season with 12
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 59-ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated Atlantic Coast Conference foe No. 45 Florida State 4-2, then swept Southern Indiana 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The doubles competition started with Pedro Cressoni and Hamza El Amine dropping a 6-2 loss on Court 3. Walid Ahouda and Andre' Steinbach fell 6-3 on Court 1 to give Florida State the doubles point.
Down 1-0, Matei Onofrei upset No. 81-ranked Azariah Rusher of FSU in straight sets on Court 4 to begin the singles slate. Cressoni followed with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 win on Court 5.
Steinbach lost in three sets to No. 62-ranked Erik Schiessl, tying up the match at 2-2. Freshman Jerald Carroll gave the Cards a 3-2 edge with 2-6, 6-2, 4-6 victory on Court 6. Ahouda secured the 4-2 victory for UofL with a thrilling three-set match on Court 1.

The Cards came out hot in doubles play with Ahouda and Steinbach taking Court 1, 6-2. Shortly after, Carroll and Russell Lokko clinched the doubles point for Louisville, claiming Court 3, 6-2.
Steinbach kept the momentum in the Cards' favor, cruising to a win in straight sets on the top court. Cressoni dominated Court 3 with a 6-0, 6-0 win, bringing Louisville within a point of victory. Louis Chusseau sealed the deal for UofL, completing the sweep with a win in straight sets.
With both of its wins today, Louisville advances to 12-4 while Florida State falls to 8-6, and Southern Indiana drops to 3-4.The Cards stay at home to host the Clemson Tigers on Friday, March 6 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. First serve is set for 5 p.m. ET.
