Cards Drop ACC Contest to Clemson

No. 90 El Amine and Ahouda claimed at 6-4 doubles victory
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 44 ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 35 Clemson in an Atlantic Coast Conference match Friday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Clemson (5-8, 1-2 ACC) took the doubles point to start the match. The Tigers claimed an early edge on court three where Matisse Forzam and Marka Mesorovic picked up a 6-1 win over Pedro Cressoni and Russell Lokko. The Cards countered at the two-spot when No. 90-ranked Walid Ahouda and Hamza El Amine rallied from a 4-3 deficit to beat Henrik Bladelius and Noah Cherubino 6-4 to even the doubles tally at 1-1. The first point of the match came down to the No. 1 spot where Louisville's Matei Onofrei and Andre' Steinbach battled with Noa Vukadin and Viktor Markov before the Tiger duo prevailed 6-3.
In singles action, Clemson added to its lead with wins on courts six, four and three to claim the 4-0 victory. At court five, Cressoni bested Mesarovic 7-5 in the first set and was leading 2-1 when the match ended.
The Cardinals (12-5, 2-1 ACC) will continue their home stand with a doubleheader on Sunday, starting the day with an ACC matchup against No. 45 Georgia Tech at noon and wrapping up the day with a 5 p.m. contest against IU Indy.
