Men's Tennis Hits the Road to Face Two Ranked ACC Opponents

Cards take on No. 6 North Carolina and No. 18 Duke
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team will head to North Carolina this weekend to face a pair of ranked ACC opponents. The Cardinals will meet sixth-ranked North Carolina on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by No. 18 Duke on Sunday at 11 a.m.
"This weekend is an important one for us playing a team like North Carolina who is in the national championship conversation again this year and Duke who could also be a No. 1 seed," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "We know the teams well and can really help ourselves out with a win. We are motivated."

The No. 40 Cardinals (14-6, 4-3 ACC) will look to rebound from back-to-back losses on the road at No. 9 Florida State and No. 46 Miami last weekend.
The 17th-ranked pair of Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn leads the Cards with an overall record of 26-9 in doubles. They have compiled an 14-4 record in dual match play and are 5-2 against nationally ranked competitors.
Wynn has amassed a 14-2 record in singles, playing primarily at No. 2. Morin-Kougoucheff, who received the nod at No. 61 in the latest ITA rankings, is 10-2 from the one-spot and owns a perfect 5-0 record against nationally ranked players. Federico Gomez has also had a strong season for the Cards with a 12-6 record.

Last Meeting: April 23, 2017 – North Carolina won 6-1 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Scouting the Tar Heels: In their last match, the Tar Heels (14-4, 5-1) defeated Virginia in dominant fashion, downing the Cavaliers by a score of 6-1. The fourth-ranked doubles team of William Blumberg and Robert Kelly leads the team with an 11-3 record at No. 1. In singles, Blaine Boyden is undefeated with a perfect mark of 15-0, while No. 29 Benjamin Sigouin is 12-2 with a 3-0 record at No. 1. Blumberg, who is ranked second nationally in singles, has also had a strong season with an 11-3 mark at the one-spot.

Ryan Dickerson and Jason Lapidus hold a 7-5 overall record in doubles, while Sean Scully and Nick Stachowiak have won six matches at No. 1. Stachowiak has registered the most wins for the Blue Devils' with a dual match record of 11-5, playing primarily at the three and four-spot. Nicolas Alvarez earned Duke's top spot in the latest ITA rankings, checking in at No. 17. Before playing the Cards, the Blue Devils will meet Notre Dame on Friday.
