The freshman sets a new school record in the hammer throw
LOUISVILLE,Ky. -- The University of Louisville track and field teams kicked off the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood on Friday afternoon. Freshman Makenli Forrest's school record throw in the hammer was the highlight of the day.Â
Forrest set a new school record in the hammer throw. With her fifth throw of the day, Forrest tossed a  65.00m/213'3" to shatter Jere' Summers' record of 63.20m/207'4" set during the 2010 season. She finished second in the event.Â

Spencer Harris threw a personal best of 51.52m/169-00 to finish third in the shot put.  Eric Fox finished third in the open shot put and the open long jump. Fox finished the day with a throw of 12.71m/41'8 ½" in the shot put and a personal best mark of 6.95m/22'9 ¾" in the long jump.Â
The Cardinals will be back in action at Cardinal Park tomorrow with the final day of the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational. The meet begins at 9:00 a.m. with the men's javelin. The Cardinals will honor the senior class in a senior ceremony set to begin at 10:50 a.m.Â
