
Women’s Golf Finishes Seventh at ACC Championship

The Cardinals climbed two spots on the final day of competition.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's golf team produced its best round on the final day of the ACC Championship and finished seventh.
The Cardinals shot a 4-over-par 292 on Monday at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center East Course in Greensboro, N.C. Louisville, which rose two spots on the team leaderboard, produced a three-day score of 30-over-par 894. Duke won the team title with a 15-under-par 849.
Molly Skapik paced the Cardinals with an even-par 72. The senior had three birdies and was one of 11 golfers with at least one eagle. She tied for 25th with a three-round score of 8-over-par 224.
Olivia Cason, who also tied for 25th, registered a 2-over-par 74 in the last round.
Lauren Hartlage, statistically Louisville's top golfer, improved steadily over the course of the tournament. The sophomore shaved two strokes off her performance each day, carding a 1-over-par 73 on the final day. Hartlage and Delaney Shah each tied for 30th with an identical 9-over-par 225.
It is the first tournament this year – only the third time in 23 career tournaments – that Hartlage did not shoot at least one round even or below par.
Louisville now awaits NCAA Regional Championships announcement, which is being televised live Wednesday on Golf Channel at 5:30 p.m. ET. The Cardinals have played in four-consecutive regional championships.
Seventy-two teams and 24 individuals will be selected to compete at one of four regional championships, each featuring 18 teams and six individuals, from May 7-9. The sites consist of San Francisco, Calif.; Austin, Texas; Madison, Wis.; and, Tallahassee, Fla.
From regional competition, 24 teams and 12 individuals will advance to the national championships to be played May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
