Volleyball Set to Host Butler in Spring Match

Cards will face the Bulldogs at 6:30 on Saturday in Cardinal Arena
The University of Louisville volleyball fans will get a sneak peek at the 2018 version of the Cardinals volleyball team at 6:30 on Saturday n Cardinal Arena when Butler pays a visit for a spring match which will mark the end of the spring practice season. Admission is free.Â

The Cardinals are coming off an ACC Championship and their 26th appearance in the NCAA Championship Tournament. UofL graduated four-year starters Tess Clark, Maggie DeJong and Gabbie Wiley and Coline Coessens.  Starters Wilma Rivera,  Amanda Green, Molly Sauer, and Melanie McHenry as well as starter Jasmine Bennett, Illinois transfer Marijke Van Dyke and middle blocker Piper Roe recently returned from the 2018 U.S. Women's National Team open tryout on March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  Rivera was named ACC Setter of the Year and Sauer was named Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Butler ended the 2017 season with a 23-8 overall record and a trip to the BIG EAST Conference Tournament. The Bulldogs are led by Bri Lilly, a two-way player for the Bulldogs during the 2017 season. She ended the year with 258 kills (2.63 k/s) and a team-high 121 blocks (1.23 b/s) to score 343.5 total points. Lilly posted the highest attack percentage of any Bulldog in school history (.378) by collecting her 258 kills in just 532 swings with 57 errors. She was also credited with 85 digs, 17 service aces and 13 assists.
