Volleyball Sends Five to U.S. National Team Tryouts

Green, Sauer, Van Dyke, Roe and McHenry head to Colorado Springs
University of Louisville volleyball players Amanda Green, Molly Sauer, Marijke Van Dyke, Piper Roe and Melanie McHenry have been invited to the 2018 U.S. Women's National Team open tryout on March 2-4 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

The tryout, under the direction of U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly, will identify prospective athletes for U.S. Collegiate National Teams (CNT):Â Athletes born 1999 or earlier and with collegiate eligibility remaining for the 2018 collegiate season may also be invited to participate in one of three possible U.S. Collegiate National Teams: CNT Asia from May 20-31; CNT Europe July 4-15; or CNT-Detroit June 22-July 1. All three CNT programs are considered extended tryouts for the U.S. Women's National TeamÂ

The event will also serve as a tryout for the U.S. Women's Senior National Team for athletes who have concluded their college eligibility and who wish to be invited to be a member of the U.S. Women's National Team on a full-time basis. This program could begin as early as the spring of 2018, or when the athlete's scholastic or professional club season has concluded. Also considered for training with this group will be athletes who have remaining college eligibility. Their participation will begin in mid-May or when their scholastic calendar ends for 2018. None of the Cardinals are eligible for this part of the tryout.
