Cards win three golds, two bronze and a silver on the final day
The University of Louisville won three golds, two bronze and a silver on the final day of competition at the ACC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The Cardinals finished second behind Virginia after four days of racing. Mallory Comerford was named Swimmer of the Meet. Â

The Cavaliers posted the winning score of 1382.5, followed by Louisville (1149.5), NC State (1037), North Carolina (786.5), Notre Dame (775), Duke (756.5), Virginia Tech (736), Florida State (578.5), Pitt (494), Georgia Tech (370.5) Miami (315) and Boston College (120).

Diver of the Meet was Ashlynn Peters of Virginia Tech. Men's Diver of the Meet was Greg Duncan of North Carolina. Swimmer of the Meet was Mallory Comerford. Â Â

In the 1650 freestyle NC State's Hannah Moore powered out for an early lead, and then slowly pulled away from the field, winning the event in 15:48.37. Her teammate Tamila Holub was second in 16:00.14.  Louisville's Sophie Cattermole put up the bronze medal time of 16:00.78.

In the 200 back, Ashlyn Schoof was the top finisher for the Cardinals, touching third in the B-final with a time of 1:55.00. Teammate Alina Kendzior put up a 1:55.09 in that same heat. The event was won by Virginia freshman Paige Madden who surged late to win gold with a time of 1:51.81.Â

In the 100 freestyle, Mallory Comerford set a new meet record 46.65 100 free, just one-tenth faster than her meet record that she set a year ago to take gold. Her back half split of 23.96 kept her ahead of UNC's Caroline Baldwin who took silver in 47.67. UofL's Lainey Visscher finished  fifth in the A-final with a time of 48.22. Cardinal Casey Fanz won the B-final with a time of 48.58, cutting .07 from her prelim time. In the C-final, Arina Openysheva was third with a time of 49.12.

In the 200 breast, the Cardinals went 1-3-4-5, Freshman Mariia Astashkina chased down 100 breast gold medalist  Natalie Pierce of FSU to post a 2:09.01 just ahead of Pierce's 2:09.05. The top seed going into the race, Rachael Bradford-Feldman, won bronze right with a time of 2:09.38, while Louisville teammates Lauren James was fourth (2:09.95)  and Morgan Friesen was fifth with a time of 2:10.31.

In the 200 butterfly, Louisville's Grace Oglesby made it a fly sweep, winning a gold in in1:53.87 for a matching gold from her win in the 100 fly She had to chase down Virginia's Jen Marrkand on the final 50 for the win.  In the B-final, Carley Lowe boarded a 1:58.93 to touch third.

In the 400 free relay, Lainey Visscher (48.28), Casey Fanz (47.63), Arina Openysheva (48.14) and Mallory Comerford (46.68) combined for the silver medal time of 3:10.73 and set a new school record. The event was won by Virginia with a time of 3:09.45, setting a new meet and conference mark. Â
