Cards are 20-7 and 13-3 going into the weekend
The University of Louisville Volleyball team will remain on the road this weekend, as they travel to South Bend for a rematch with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. UofL will play Notre Dame on Friday at 7:00 pm. in the Joyce Center.
The Cards currently sit at 20-7 overall, with an ACC mark of 13-3. UofL is coming off of back-to-back road victories, including a 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20) win over Boston College in Chestnut Hill last Friday, and a clean 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-20) sweep of Wake Forest down in Winston-Salem this past Sunday.
Offensively, Melanie McHenry continues to lead the Cards in kills with 311, all though she has missed playing time with an injury during the last four matches. Freshman Claire Chaussee stepped into McHenry's role and has 56 kills, 14 digs to average 4.0 points per set playing in the front row over the last four matches. Jasmine Bennett is the team's leader in hit percentage, hitting it at a .383 clip. On defense, senior Molly Sauer leads the team in digs, with 432 on the year. Senior Amanda Green has been clutch with 69 k. ills, two aces, 44 digs and ten blocks over the last four matches. She had a season high 23 kills versus Florida State
The Cards' first meeting with the Irish came at home back on October 10, in a game that was moved to Sacred Heart Academy due to a campus-wide power outage. The Irish took the first two sets, but UofL ultimately pulled off a 3-2 (27-29, 20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-12) comeback win behind McHenry's 19 kills and Sauer's 28 digs.
