Emily Scott Named ACC Freshman of the Week

Cards' middle is Louisville's best kept secret no more
University of Louisville's middle blocker Emily Scott has been selected as the ACC Freshman of the Week.

Scott was key in the No. 25 Cardinals' sweeps of Duke and Wake Forest. The rookie middle blocker from Appleton, Wisconsin, averaged 2.50 kills per set while posting a hitting percentage of .357 and averaged 0.833 blocks per set.
In her first year as a Card, she earned a starting spot in the middle and has amassed 73 kills, hitting .343 and leads the Cardinals in blocking with a total of 52, including seven solos.Â
The 6-2 middle blocker played for Kimberly High School for Jeff Nieuwenhuis and played club ball for the Wisconsin Volleyball Academy for B.J. Bryant. At Kimberly, she was team captain for her team that qualified for State after winning regional and sectional championships. She earned first team all-conference honors and was named to the All-State honorable mention list as well as being named Team MVP. In 2017, she led team to conference championship, regional championship, sectional championship and a state appearance. She was named a Fox-Valley Sensational Six member. She was the Prep Digs Wisconsin's No. 4 recruit on Top 5 List for 2018.
