No. 25-ranked Cardinals Set to Host Duke and Wake Forest

UofL is 4-0 in ACC play and 11-4 overall
University of Louisville volleyball returns home to Cardinal Arena where they will take on ACC foes Duke and Wake Forest. The Cardinals will face Duke on Friday at 5 p.m. and Wake Forest on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Louisville is undefeated in the ACC heading into the weekend. With two more wins, the Cardinals move to 11-4 on the season. After beating NC State and North Carolina to open conference play, the Cardinals took down Georgia Tech 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-17) and Clemson 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 23-25, 16-14) last weekend to move to 4-0 in ACC play. Melanie McHenry continues to show her strength on offense, increasing her season total to 186 kills. McHenry also has 115 digs, second to Molly Sauer's 237. Louisville has held opponents to a .172 hitting percentage through 15 matches.

Duke
The Blue Devils come to Louisville with a 7-6 (1-3 ACC) record. Duke comes off a 1-1 home match weekend where they defeated Boston College 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-17) and fell to Syracuse 3-1 (25-18, 24-26, 21-25, 17-25). Ade Owokoniran leads the offense with 143 kills. Leah Meyer totals 123 kills and team-high 62 blocks for the Blue Devils. Mackenzie Cole has tallied 179 digs so far for the Blue Devils this season.

 Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons arrive in Louisville after a weekend homestand where they lost to Syracuse 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 17-25, 21-25) and beat Boston College 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 25-19, 17-25, 21-19). Wake Forest is 1-3 in ACC play on the season. Myca Mitchell and Caroline Rassenfoss lead the way on offense with 135 and 132 digs, respectively.
Cards Break into Rankings
As the Cards extend their winning streak to five matches and stay unbeaten in the ACC, the AVCA took notice and ranked them No. 25 in this week's poll.Â
RPI ReleasedÂ
The Cardinals' RPI is 36, the third highest in the ACC behind Pitt (6) and Syracuse (30).Â
RPI stands for Ratings Percentage Index and the index comprises a team's winning percentage (25%), its opponents' winning percentage (50%), and the winning percentage of those opponents' opponents (25%). The opponents' winning percentage and the winning percentage of those opponents' opponents both comprise the strength of schedule (SOS). Thus, the SOS accounts for 75% of the RPI calculation and is 2/3 its opponents' winning percentage and 1/3 its opponents' opponents' winning percentages.
4-0 in the ACC Â
The Cardinals have started out 4-0 in the ACC last year. UofL went 3-1 to start league play in 2017 but ended up the slate winning the final 11 of the ACC season and staying unbeaten at home against its conference opponents.Â
McHenry Approaching 1000 kills
For the second straight season, UofL has a player approaching 1000 career kills. Â Junior Melanie McHenry, who has been a starter for the last three seasons enters the weekend with 944.Â
