The University of Louisville swimmers made a strong showing in the first night of competition at the TYR Pro Series Thursday night in Austin, Texas. Â

In the first event of the evening, UofL's Sophie Cattermole put up a 4:50.98 in the 400-IM to finish 7th overall.  Rachael Bradford Feldman placed ninth overall with time of 4:47.14.
Newest Cardinal Daniel Sos threw down a time of 4:22.01 in the men's 400-IM to finish 4th. Teammate Etay Gurevich placed sixth with a 4:27.49 and Jarrett Jones went 4:29.66 for 8th.

Grace Oglesby placed 15th in the 100M fly with a time of 1:01.09 and Nicolas Albiero went 54.67 in the 100-M Fly for 11th.

Nick Albiero turned around and put up a in a 2:02.26 in the 200-meter backstroke for 10th. Nikkos Sofianidis touched in 2:04.50 for 13th place.

Morgan Friesen finished 11th in the 200M breast with a time of 2:31.68! Mariia Astashkina was 12th in 2:32.26. Carlos Claverie was 6th in the 200M Breast with a 2:13.34 and Daniel Sos was 11th, posting a 2:18.63.

Andrej Barna placed 8th in the 200M freestyle with a time of 1:51.91. Marcelo Acosta was 10th, going 1:51.78. Zach Harting was 12th with a time of 1:53.27. Jarrett Jones was 14th in 1:55.46.

The TYR Pro Swim Series at Austin is the first of six stops for the series and will be contested in long course meters. Prelims will kick off at 9 a.m. CT Thursday through Saturday with finals beginning at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday and 5:40 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday. Thursday and Friday will be conducted in the traditional prelims/finals format with the top 16 swimmers from prelims advancing to the 'A' and 'B' finals. On Saturday, the 400 free will have two heats of finals with the addition of a "shoot-out style final" for the 50 meter events. The competition concludes on Sunday at 8 a.m. CT with the timed finals of the men's and women's 1500 meter free.
