Cards headline the best of the ACC
University of Louisville volleyball players Tess Clark and Molly Sauer were named to the Preseason All-ACC team.
Tess Clark is a two time All-ACC second team selection and Molly Sauer was 2015 ACC Freshman of the Year and 2015 ACC Defensive Player of the Year.Â
Other 2017 Preseason All-ACC Team selections include junior outside hitter Taylor Leath of UNC who was named to the AVCA All-America Second Team in 2016. In addition to Leath, the Preseason All-ACC Team also features four student-athletes who were awarded AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors last season – Florida State outside hitter Milica Kubura, Miami outside hitter Olga Strantzali, North Carolina outside hitter Julia Scoles and Pitt outside hitter Stephanie Williams.
North Carolina has been chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball preseason favorite in a vote by the league's 15 head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to include their own team in their predicted order of finish. One point separated Florida State (169 points) and Pitt (168), which placed second and third, respectively. Notre Dame (149) placed fourth ahead of NC State (140), Miami (136), Duke (118), Louisville (104), Georgia Tech (99) and Syracuse (75). Wake Forest (69) was picked 11th followed by Virginia Tech (54), Virginia (50), Boston College (28) and Clemson (20).

The 2017 season gets underway on Friday, Aug. 25, with all 15 league teams in action. The 2017 ACC volleyball champion will be determined by the final regular season standings, with that team receiving an automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship. Â
