Cards will travel to TCU for the 2018 ITA Kick-Off Weekend
The selections for the 2018 ITA Kick-Off Weekend have been made and the University of Louisville men's tennis team will travel to Fort Worth, Texas to face Duke in the first round of the 2018 ITA Kick-Off Weekend which will take place Jan. 26-29. Host TCU will face San Diego in the other first round match.
The ITA Kick-Off Weekend features 15 host sites with four teams at each site vying to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship, to be held Feb. 16-19 at the University of Washington.
"We are excited to be back in the National Kick-Off Tournament again," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "We have played in every one of them except last year. We are in a tough region with Big 12 Champion TCU, Duke and San Diego. All of us played in the NCAA Tournament last month and have a chance to win this region. Whoever comes out of Ft. Worth will be match tough for sure. We will be returning our entire starting singles lineup with the addition of Federico Gomez. Parker Wynn is excited to be playing close to his hometown and George Hedley was born in Dallas. Ciro Lampasas lives in nearby Houston. We all want that spot in the Indoor Sweet 16 so the level of play will be high."
UofL finished the 2017 season with a 22-10 overall record after earning the program's 12th NCAA bid and advancing to the finals of the Columbus Regional.
