Cards are undefeated in first weekend of Summer Circuit at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Summer Circuit makes a stop at Louisville's Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, the Cardinals' George Hedley and Parker Wynn have enjoyed a home court advantage through the first two days of the tournament, by advancing to the doubles finals and the singles semifinals.
Wynn, a rising sophomore from North Richland Hills, Texas, picked up a first round bye and went on to post two straight-set wins to reach Monday's semifinals.
After a first round bye, Hedley, a rising junior from Berkshire, England also reached the singles semifinals by taking down his first two opponents in straight sets.
The duo of Wynn and Hedley have advanced to Monday's doubles finals after picking up a pair of wins.
"Parker and George are getting their match rhythm back. They have not played singles competition since Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament on May 13th but they are getting better each set," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "They will play their semifinals in singles Monday at 1 pm at Bass-Rudd."
The ITA Summer Circuit was created to provide college players the opportunity to compete in organized events virtually year-round. Although the primary purpose of the circuit is to provide incoming freshman and collegiate players the chance to compete in the summer months. The ITA Summer Circuit is currently made up of 52 events over six consecutive weekends, beginning the last weekend in June and continuing through the last weekend in July.
