Cardinals host final home event this weekend at Cardinal Park

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's and women's track teams will host the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational this weekend at Cardinal Park.
The men's and women's hammer throw will be the only event held on Friday. The women's hammer will leadoff at 2:30 p.m. and will be followed by the men's hammer at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday's events will start at 9:00 a.m. with the men's javelin, followed by the women's javelin at 10:00 a.m. The running events will begin at noon with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase followed by the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Both fields include Bellarmine, Cincinnati, DePaul, Eastern Kentucky, Illinois State, IUPUI, Southern Illinois, and Western Kentucky.
Last Time Out: The men's and women's teams hosted the Louisville Invitational, finishing with eight wins, two school records, and 34 top five finishes.
The Cardinals swept the 3,000 meter steeplechase to kick off the running events. Claire Noser won the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:41.90 while Edwin Kibichiy won the steeplechase with a time of 8:51.21 for a season best mark.
Emmonnie Henderson won the women's shot put with a new school record. Henderson threw a personal best of 17.98m/59-00.00 to win the event while also setting a new meet record. She surpassed the school record of 17.50m/57-5.00 that she set the previous weekend at the Alabama Relays.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Kelsey Heyward, Bre'Yana Wash, Alexis Gibbons and Raven Grant finished second in the event, setting a new school record with a time of 45.22.
Oliver Newport won the men's long jump for the second straight week with a season best mark of 7.77m/25-6. Martice Moore won the 400 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 51.26
Renate von Tonder won her first career event in the women's triple jump. She finished with a new personal best mark of 12.48m/40-11.50 for the win.
Louisville also swept the 5,000 meter run. Bailey Davis won on the women's side with a time of 17:29.13, marking her first career win. Calvin Chemoiywo won on the men's side with a time of 15:03.79, marking his second win of the season in the event.
Last Year: Louisville took home 11 individual wins and two new school records.
Darrius Lopez led the Cardinals with a win in the men's hammer. Lopez finished the day with a new personal best mark of 60.59m/198-09.
Codie Hamsley kicked off action on Saturday with a victory in the men's discus with a mark of 53.02m/173-11. Emmonnie Henderson also won the discus event to give the Cardinals a sweep in the discus events. Her mark of 52.69m/172-10 was just shy of her season best and gave her the second win of the season in the event.
The Cardinals' distance runners swept the 1500m and 3000m events. Kelsey Cramsey won the 1500m with a season best time of 4:32.83, and teammate Edwin Kibichiy set a new meet record with his first-place finish time of 3:46.61 in the 1500m. Lydia Mato set a Cardinal Park record with a first place finish in 10:02.12 in the 3000m. The Cardinals led the field in the 3000m with Ernest Kibet setting Cardinal Park record with his time of 8:15.75.
Freshman Halee Hudson won the women's javelin throw with a throw of 38.43m/126-01. The women's 4x400 relay team of Sydney Hill, La'Bianca Frazier, Kayla Tyson, and Bre'Yana Wash finished first with a time of 3:48.12.
The women's heptathlon and men's decathlon wrapped up the meet with Holly Hankenson winning the heptathlon with a new school record of 5,333 points, while Eric Fox also set a new school record in the decathlon with 7,032 points.
