Federico Gomez will join the Cardinals from Miami ASA Junior College
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Federico Gomez will play for the Cardinals in the fall of 2017.
Â
"I am excited about bringing Federico Gomez to Louisville," said Ecarma. "He has been a winner on the tennis court wherever he goes. He is a seasoned player who has played all over the world - on slow red clay overseas to fast courts in the USA. Federico has height and strength. His game centers around a big serve and forehand as well as an overall physical game."
Â
Gomez comes to Louisville from Miami ASA Junior College where he helped lead the team to the 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) by winning the No. 3 singles flight and reaching the finals at No. 1 doubles. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native currently stands at No. 6 in the NJCAA singles rankings and reached as high as No. 3 in doubles last season.
Â
"We rate Federico as one of the top two players in America coming out of junior college this year," said Ecarma. "He was a teammate of current Cardinal standout Nicolas Rouanet. He loves tennis and is humble and hungry to succeed. I believe he will impact an already-strong lineup. He will be a special first year player for us."
