Men's Tennis Completes Friday's Doubleheader with 7-0 Win Over Arkansas Pine Bluff
March 31, 2017 | Men's Tennis
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team completed Friday's doubleheader with a 7-0 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cards (15-4) will return to action Sunday when they play host to ACC opponent Virginia Tech at 12 p.m. and face Xavier at 6 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
Â
In doubles, the Cardinals started with an early edge after junior Nicolas Rouanet and George Hedley won by forfeit. On court one, senior Sean Donohue and freshman Parker Wynn, No. 22 in the ITA doubles rankings, topped Jualon Greig and LeDarrien Ledbetter 6-1 to capture the first point of the match. Sophomore Michael Quang and freshman Fredrik Moe added a 6-0 victory over Aravind Vangala and Kusto Ledwaba at the three-spot.
Â
Because the Golden Lions were short a player in singles, Louisville moved to a 2-0 lead with a forfeit at the No. 6 spot. For the second time in Friday's doubleheader, the Cards swept through singles in straight sets. Junior Ciro Lampasas put the Cards up 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 decision against Ledbetter. Junior Santiago Salazar defeated Ledwaba 6-1, 6-0 at the five-spot to clinch the win. Donohue topped Vangala 6-1, 6-2 on court four. Rouanet picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Rahman at the two-spot and Wynn wrapped the victory with a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 1.
Â
"The guys really were focused," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "It shows me that they're on a mission. It shows me a team that's mature. Whoever is across the net, whatever name they have on their shirt, you go out there and play well and play hard."
