
Women's Swimming Finishes Sixth at NCAA Championships

Best finish in school history
INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Louisville swimming and diving team wrapped up the NCAA Women's Championship with a sixth place finish. The Cardinals tie their highest-ever finish at the Championship after four days of racing at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.

Stanford won the title with a score of 526.5 and rounding out the top-10 was California (366), Texas A&M (292.5), Georgia (252.5), Texas (252), Louisville (194.5), NC State (194), Indiana (185), Southern California (176), and Minnesota (168).

In the Cards first event of the night, Mallory Comerford finished in school record time to take third in the 100-free with a score of 46.35. Comerford broker her school record by four-tenths of a second. Simone Manuel of Stanford won the event with a time of 45.56 to become the first women to ever swim a sub-46 second 100-free.

Swimming in her final event as a Louisville Cardinal, Andrea Cottrell placed eighth in the 200-breast with a time of 2:08.15. Lilly King of Indiana defended her title with a time of 2:03.18.

In the Cardinals final event of the event of the night, Lainey Visscher (48.24), Mallory Comerford (46.38), Casey Fanz (48.51), and Nastja Govejsek (48.84) combined for a school record time of 3:11.97 to take sixth in the 400-free relay.
