
Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season at Yellow Jacket Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's and women's track teams will travel to Atlanta, Ga. for the Yellow Jacket Invitational to open the 2017 outdoor season.
The field events will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the men's hammer throw immediately followed by the men's long jump. The running events will start at 2:00 p.m. with the women's 2,000-meter steeplechase, followed by the men's 2,000-meter steeplechase.
The women's field will include two teams that finished the 2016 ranked with No. 10 Georgia and No. 20 Florida State. The men's field will boast one top 25 team from last year in No. 6 Georgia. The field will also include six other teams including, Belmont, Franklin Pierce, Georgia Tech, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, and Pittsburgh.
The Cardinals will look to improve on a successful indoor season, bringing the momentum into the outdoor season. Louisville finished the season with five All-Americans while the women recorded the best finish in school history.
Holly Hankenson, Emmonnie Henderson, Dolly Nyemah, and Damar Robinson all earned All-American honors last week in College Station. Henderson, Nyemah and Robinson all repeated as ACC Champions.
