Junior Federico Gomez wins in consolation finals
The University of Louisville's Federico Gomez defeated Central Florida's Danny Kerznerman in the consolation finals of the Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic Sunday afternoon.
"This has been a quality tournament," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "It was well-run and we continued to improve as the tournament went on. Brandon did really well as did Fede in singles. Nico had a really bad luck of the draw in both singles and doubles, but still played well and came close to pulling an upset. It was great for Clement to finish with a win after a very physical tournament."
Sophomore Clement Filho wrapped up the tournament for the Cardinals with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 win over UCF's Vasyl Kiselyov.
