
Swimming Completes Day 1 at Virginia/Princeton Double Dual

Cards pick up five wins.
The Cardinals picked up five wins in the first day of competition in the double dual meet with Virginia and Princeton.

In the men's and women's combined scoring, Virginia leads Princeton 148-34, Virginia leads Louisville 105-77, and Louisville leads Princeton 145-37. Virginia men lead Princeton 70-21. The Louisville men lead UVA 47-44 and lead Princeton 67-24. The Virginia women lead Princeton 78-13 and lead the Louisville women 61-30. The Cards lead Princeton 78-13. These scores do not include the diving competition which will be concluded tomorrow.

In the 200 Free Relay, Lainey Visscher (23.50), Mallory Comerford (21.92), Arina Openysheva (22.53) and Casey Fanz (22.87) joined forces to board a time of  1:30.82 for second. The event was won by Virginia's A-relay time of 1:30.37.

For the first win of the day, Andrej Barna, Nikkos Sofianidis, Zach Harting and Nicolas Albiero touch first with a 1:20.87 in the 200 Free Relay.

Arina Openysheva put up a time of 4:51.29 for second place in the 500 free. Sophie Cattermole was fourth in 4:54.43 and Emily Moser was seventh, boarding a 5:02.59. The event was won by Paige Madden of Virginia, who posted a 4:51.15.

Marcelo Acosta took first in the 500, with a blistering 4:23.27, three seconds ahead of the field for the second win of the morning. Sam Steele was fifth in 4:31.72 and T.C. Smith is 6th in 4:32.69.

Rachael Bradford Feldman was first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.13. Alina Kendzior was fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.42. Grace Oglesby was fifth in 2:03.52. Â Â Â

Nick Albiero takes second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.66. Carlos Claverie is third in 1:49.99. Jonathan Zoucha was sixth in 1:51.68. Etay Gurevich was ninth in 1:52.82. Virginia's Zach Fong was the winner, going 1:49.47.

Mallory Comerford took second in the 50 free with a 22.49, she was edged by Virginia's Caitlin Cooper's 22.22. Lainey Visscher was fourth in 23.10 and Casey Fanz was sixth in 23.36.

In the 400 medley relay, Alina Kendzior (55.58), Mariia Astashkina (1:02.79), Grace Oglesby (53.86) and Mallory Comerford (47.85) were third in 3:40.08.

In the 400 medley relay, the Cards were second: Nikkos Sofianidis (46.68), Carlos Claverie (54.51), Nick Albiero (48.19) and Zach Harting (44.09) put together a 3:15.47.

In the women's 3-meter diving, Molly Fears was third with a score of 301.50. Michaela Sliney was seventh with a 265.35 and Briannna Price was 10th with a score of 259.

Daniel Fecteau won the men's 1-meter springboard with a scored of 311.15. Sean Riley was third with a 288 and Daniel Pinto was ninth with a score of 234.90.
