Morin-Kougoucheff and Wynn Reach ITA All-American Consolation Semifinals
October 07, 2017 | Men's Tennis
The Cardinal duo defeated Arizona State's Michael Geerts and Tim Ruehl 7-6, 6-2
The University of Louisville doubles team of Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn have advanced to the consolation semifinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships Saturday at Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
"In the eighth day of a 10-day national tournament, if you are still in it, that is a very good thing," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "When you look around at all the courts, you see plenty of All-Americans and other top players in college tennis. This is like the fall semester NCAA championship. Parker and Chris have played together for two weekends now and they are starting to hit their stride. They are both talented singles players that now look like a good doubles team. They are starting to understand which parts of the doubles court they can best operate in which helps their level of execution."
Junior Morin-Kougoucheff (Capbreton, France) and Wynn (North Richland Hills, Texas) teamed to beat Arizona State's Michael Geerts and Tim Ruehl 7-6, 6-2 to reach Sunday's semifinals where they will face Stanford's Michael Genender and Sameer Kumar 6-4, 6-4 Sunday at 10 a.m.(ET).
