Women's Soccer Travels to Clemson on Thursday

Cardinals face Tigers in the first of a two game road stretch
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a tough double-overtime lost to Duke, the University of Louisville women's soccer team heads south to face Clemson on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. The match will be available for streaming on ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals (7-5, 1-3 ACC) led the No. 4 Blue Devils, 2-1, early in the second half last Friday, but Duke equalized midway through the period. Louisville regulation, but a deflected goal gave Duke the victory in the second session of extra time. Freshman midfielder Emina Ekic connected on a penalty kick in the first, while senior defender Inger Katrine Bjerke picked up her first goal of the season in the opening moments of the second.
Through last Friday's game, Ekic is tied for fourth in the ACC with seven goals, while also ranking fifth in shots with 40. Sophomore forward Allison Whitfield ranks second on the team with three goals and seven points. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos has been a solid addition to the Cardinals with 30 saves and a .667 save percentage.
SCOUTING CLEMSON
Clemson (7-3-1, 1-2-1 ACC) broke through with their first conference victory last Friday, a 1-0 result at Miami. Despite the losing streak, coach Eddie Radwanski's Tigers have been competitive, losing 1-0 at No. 5 North Carolina and tying Syracuse on the road. Sophomore goalkeeper Sandy MacIver has performed solidly, tallying four shutouts and posting a .788 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
Last season, the Cardinals and Tigers faced off for the first time ever, with Clemson taking a 1-0 win at Lynn Stadium. After surrendering a goal late in the first half, the Cards were unable to convert on three major scoring chances in the second.
The Cardinals will remain on the road as they head to Charlottesville to face No. 15 Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
