A Jasmine Bennett slide for a kill gave the Cards its first set point but FSU answered and the teams traded points until kills by Melanie McHenry and Tess Clark gave the Cards the 27-25 win. UofL improved to .214 hitting and had three aces. FSU faded to .114 hitting but had three blocks.
Â
In the second set, UofL popped out to a 12-8 lead with a 4-0 run started by an Amanda Green kill. FSU countered with a 5-0 run to go up 15-12. UofL regained the lead at 17-16 on a Melanie McHenry ace. UofL's hitting had heated up to .273 and the Cards used it to get to set point at 24-19 on a kill by Tess Clark. FSU scored twice but an ace by Molly Sauer ended the comeback for the 25-21, giving the Cards a 2-0 set lead going into the break.
Â
In the third set, FSU came out an ran out to a 5-1 lead after the break. The Seminoles took advantage of Cardinal errors to increase their lead to 12-8 on a hitting error by DeJong. The Cards dug in and put together a 7-3 run that featured two kills by both Melanie McHenry and Tess Clark to tie at 15. FSU battled by to a 18-16 lead but were outscored 7-4 down the stretch. In that stretch, Wilma Rivera had a kill on a free ball, a block with Maggie DeJong and another kill by DeJong.Â

UofL will have just two days of rest before heading to South Bend for a midweek tilt with Notre Dame on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
