Cards host Pitt on Senior Night
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a week on the road, the University of Louisville women's soccer team returns to Lynn Stadium on Friday at 5:30 p.m. for an ACC matchup against the Pittsburgh Panthers. Heading into the match, the Cardinals are 8-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Emina Ekic has been an offensive standout in her debut season for the Cardinals. Through 14 contests, the freshman midfielder has netted seven goals and three assists. Allison Whitfield has notched four goals and two assists, while fellow sophomore Brooklyn Rivers adds three goals and one assist on the season.
Matching a career-high six saves in last weekend's contest against Virginia, redshirt freshman Gabby Kouzelos has been instrumental in goal for Louisville. Kouzelos has made 40 saves on the season, recording a goals against average of 1.22.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 18th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to four NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING PITT
Coming off of a hard-fought 3-2 loss to North Carolina State, the Panthers enter into Friday's contest with an overall record of 3-8-3 and are 0-5-1 in ACC action.
Redshirt Junior Taylor Pryce leads the Panthers' offensive efforts, scoring four goals and adding three assists for 11 points. Mikayla Schmidt and Vildan Kardesler have each logged four points on the season, with Schmidt scoring two goals and Kardesler earning one goal and two assists.
In goal, redshirt freshman Katelyn McEachern has tallied 68 saves and owns a goals against average of 1.60.
Greg Miller is in his fifth season as the head coach for the Panthers. Under his guidance, Pitt recorded their first ACC Conference victories in 2015 with back-to-back shutouts on the road and has shown steady improvement each season.
