No. 8/11-Ranked Swimming and Diving Set to Host No. 6/12 Missouri in Two-Day Meet

Cards face the Tigers at 3 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday
The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to host SEC power Missouri January 6-7 at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.

The No. 8 ranked Louisville men will take on the No. 6-ranked Tigers with the No. 11-ranked Cardinal women facing No. 12 ranked Mizzou. The two teams will clash at 3 p.m. ET on Friday and 11 a.m. ET on Saturday.

The Cardinals are coming off a win at the UofL Invitational which featured two NCAA A-cuts and 25 NCAA B-cuts while also breaking six meet records, five pool records, and two school records. The A-cuts came In the women's 400 free relay, when Louisville's 'A' team of Lainey Visscher (49.65), Mallory Comerford (47.59), Abigail Houck (49.39), and Casey Fanz (47.60) touched first with what was the third fastest time this year, setting a new meet and pool record and NCAA A-cut time of 3:14.23. In the men's 400 free relay, Louisville's 'A' team of Andrej Barna (43.79), Matthias Lindenbauer (42.96), Grigory Tarasevich (42.80), and Trevor Carroll (42.59) touched in first with the third fastest time this year, a new meet record, and a NCAA A-cut time of 2:52.14.

The Tigers' last outing was the Mizzou Invite on November 17-19. Over the course of the meet, the Tigers combined to set 10 school records and four individual NCAA automatic qualifying cuts. Two Tigers, seniors Andrew Sansoucie and Fabian Schwingenschlogl ranked first nationally in their respective events at the time, while senior Michael Chadwick ranks second in three events and third in another. In all, nine Tiger men own 16 top 10 times and six Tiger women have 10 top 10 times nationally.

The Cardinal men are led by Grigory Tarasevich who is ranked third in the 200-back (1:40.32), and 5th in the 100-back (45.79). Marcelo Acosta is ranked sixth in the 1650 (14:47.79), ninth in the 1000 (8:58.68) and 11th in the 500 with a 4:16.49. Carlos Claverie is fourth in the 100-breast (52.38), and second in the 200-breast (1:53.32). He also ranks 26th in the 200-IM. Trevor Carroll is 23rd in the 200-free (1:34.91) and teammate Matthias Lindenbauer is 30th in the 200-free. Newcomer Etay Gurevich is ranked 11th in the 400-IM (3:43.96), 18th in the 200-fly (1:44.18) and 27th in the 200-IM (1:45.47).Â

The men's relays are traditionally strong and this year is no different as the 200-free relay ranks 11th (1:17.95), the 400-free relay is fifth (2:52.14), the 800-free relay is fifth (6:19.36) as is the 200-medley relay (1:25.06) with the 400-medley relay standing 15th with a 3:09.06.

The Cardinal women can be found in the top times as well. Mallory Comerford is third in the 100-free (47.36), fourth in the 200-free (1:43.02) and sixth in the 500-free (4:37.64). She also is ranked No. 24 in the 50-free with a 22:26. Alina Kendzior is 21st in the 200-back (1:53.61) and 30th in the 100-back (52.63). Andrea Cottrell is fourth in the 100-breast (58.85) and sixth in the 200-breast (2:08.25). Abigail Houck is 23rd in the 200-fly (1:56.50). Rachael Bradford-Feldman is 34th in the 200-IM (1:58.29) and 25th in the 400-IM (4:10.95).

The women's Cardinal relays rank as well. The Cards are 14th in the 200-free relay (1:29.70), ninth in the 400-free relay (3:14.23) and seventh in the 800-free relay (7:04.71). The Louisville women are fifth in the 200-medley relay (1:36.52) and 8th in the 400-medley relay.
