Track and Field Set to Compete at the IU Relays This Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's and women's track teams will travel to Bloomington, Ind. for the Indiana University Relays this weekend.
Friday's schedule will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the first event in the men's heptathlon: the 60-meter dash, followed by the running of the women's 60-meter hurdles at 6:30 p.m. The field events will begin at 5:35 p.m. with the second event of the men's heptathlon: the long jump, followed by the women's high jump at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's schedule is slated to begin at 9:20 a.m. with the first event in the women's pentathlon: the 60-meter hurdles, followed by the men's heptathlon 60-meter hurdles at 9:30 a.m. The field events will begin at 10:05 a.m. with the second event in the women's pentathlon: the high jump, followed by the men's heptathlon pole vault at 10:10 a.m. The field will consist of 15 teams from across the nation in both the men's and women's events.
Last Time Out: The men's and women's teams both finished second at the Notre Dame Invitational last weekend.
Sophomore Raven Grant led the way for the women with two wins. She took the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.51 and the 200-meter dash running a 24.21. On the men's side, senior Damar Robinson led the way with two wins as well. Robinson brought home the win in the high jump clearing 2.16m/7-01 and the triple jump with a season best mark of 15.8m/51-10.
The Cards dominated the women's weight throw with redshirt-senior Dolly Nyemah taking first with a throw of 21.40m/70-2.50, and her teammate, senior Emmonnie Henderson, finishing second. Henderson won the shot put for the second time this indoor season with a throw of 16.72m/54-10.25.
Louisville kept up its winning ways in the women's long jump with senior Bre'Yana Wash winning with a mark of 6.01m/19-8.75. Junior Teague Peck took home first in the men's 600-meter dash with a school record time of 1:17.69. Junior Eric Fox wrapped up the winning for the Cardinals setting a school record in the men's pole vault clearing 10.75m.
Last Year: The Cardinals had a strong showing last year at the Indiana Relays. Junior Josh Hall took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.25. Andrew Nsuk finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.34. Nyemah finished second in the women's weight throw with a mark of 21.58m/70-09.75. Grant helped the cause by finishing second in the women's 60-meters with a time of 7.56. The last returning Cardinal with a top two finish is Javen Reeves, who placed second in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.11m/6-11.00.
