Callahan Moves to NCAA Lead on Third Day of Split Weekend

The Cards combined for eight performances that currently rank among the top 15 nationally among marks entering the weekend.
The University of Louisville track & field teams were represented at both the Bobcat Invitational and Stanford Invitational on Friday, their third of four consecutive days of competition.

BOBCAT INVITATIONAL
Â
The Louisville jumpers and pole vaulters continued competition at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas at the Texas State Track & Field Complex.

Ashley Callahan led the charge in her first competition since placing sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships, posting a NCAA-leading clearance of 4.60m (15-1) in the women's pole vault to move within a centimeter of the program record. In addition to Callahan's mark, Jaicee Jasmer and Lydia Stuart recorded matching clearances of 4.05m (13-3.5) to finish fifth and seventh, respectively.

The Cardinals were also dominant in the women's long jump with four athletes posting marks that currently rank among the top 15 nationally.

Eve Divinity took the top spot with a wind-aided mark of 6.61m (21-8.25) (+2.9) that currently stands as the second-best all conditions in the mark in the NCAA this season.

Sophia Day finished third overall with a mark of 6.46m (21-2.5) (+3.5) that ranks sixth nationally, Alba Cuns Iglesias posted a mark of 6.31m (20-8.5) (+2.3) to place fifth and move to 12th nationally, and Anna Panenko finished seventh after leaping 6.27m (20-7) (+2.6) and jumping to 14th nationally.

While all four final marks were wind-aided, Cuns Iglesias moved into the top 10 in program history with a wind-legal mark of 6.17m (20-3) on her fifth attempt of the competition.Â

Divinity doubled back in the 200m, closing out her first outdoor meet in a Louisville uniform with a wind-aided time of 23.59 (+3.1) to place fifth.

Roman Kuleshov and Miller Jones both climbed up the program and national rankings in the men's long jump with personal-best marks in their season debuts. Kuleshov recorded a mark of 7.72m (25-4) to move to fifth nationally and seventh in Louisville history, while Jones recorded a mark of 7.69m (25-2.75) that ranks seventh nationally and eighth in school history.

Ty McPhail closed out the day with an event victory in the men's pole vault with an outdoor-best mark of 5.35m (17-6.5) that also moved him within a centimeter of the program record and ranks 15th in the NCAA, while Luther Mogelvang moved into the top 10 in the Louisville record books with a personal-best bar of 5.10m (16-8.75).

The Cards will cap off competition at the Bobcat Invitational tomorrow in both the men's and women's triple jump beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET.

STANFORD INVITATIONAL

The Louisville distance squad began their weekend of competition at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif. at Cobb Track & Angell Field.
Â
Eliza Nicholson crossed the line in 15:50.95 to set a new Louisville freshman record in the women's 5000m, the second-fastest time in program history that knocked over 11 seconds off the previous freshman best.

A pair of Cards climbed the program record books in the men's 1500m, as Ryan Farrell posted the sixth-fastest time in program history in 3:47.19 and Leo Brewer followed close behind in 3:47.26 to move to seventh in his Louisville outdoor debut.

The Cardinals will cap off their time in Stanford tomorrow with Louisville athletes set to contest the men's 5000m, women's 10000m, and men's 800m.
