Cardinals Continue Split Weekend at Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational

The University of Louisville track & field teams competed at both the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational on Thursday afternoon, the second of four days of competition slated for the weekend.

TEXAS RELAYS

Lucy Fellows and Maya Follmer closed out their first heptathlon of the season on Thursday, with Fellows accruing a total of 5,404 points and Follmer totaling 4,133 points.
Â
Over the final three events, Fellows recorded marks of 5.47m (17-11.5) in the long jump and 34.69m (113-9) in the javelin throw, while also racing to an 800m time of 2:21.53. Follmer posted personal-best marks in both the 800m (2:20.28) and the javelin throw (21.65m) after beginning her day with a leap of 5.31m (17-5.25) in the long jump.

Lydia Stuart rounded out the day for the Cardinals in the collegiate division of the women's pole vault, clearing a final bar of 3.90m (12-9.5).

The third day of the Texas Relays will begin tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. ET in the men's long jump with three-time All-American KJ Byrd set to be the only Cardinal to compete in Austin on Friday.

BOBCAT INVITATIONAL

The Cards also kicked off the first of three days of the Bobcat Invitational, with a trio of Cardinals competing on Thursday in San Marcos, Texas.Â

Athena Peterson and Sophia Day began the afternoon in the women's 100m, as Peterson raced to a time of 12.25 in her collegiate debut and Day set a personal record with a time of 12.33.

The pair then doubled back for the women's 200m, with Day leading the way through the line with a wind-aided time of 24.58 (+3.3) and Peterson following close behind in 24.86 (+3.3).

Dominic Lowe also contested a pair of events on Thursday, notching a time of 16.14 in the 110m hurdles and a wind-aided long jump mark of 6.45m (21-2) (+3.1).

Competition in San Marcos will continue tomorrow afternoon with the Cards notably set to feature multiple athletes in both the men's and women's long jump.

The Cardinals will also begin competition at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif. tomorrow, with a pair of Louisville athletes set to be featured in the men's 1500m at 3:27 p.m. ET.
