
Women's Soccer Wraps Up Seven Game Home Stand This Weekend

Cardinals host Ball State on Friday and Belmont on Sunday
LOUISVILLE, KY. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team will host two teams at Lynn Stadium this weekend. The Cardinals will host Ball State on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Belmont on Sunday night at 5:00 p.m. Â Â Â

ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville enters the match with an overall record of 4-1-1 with a 3-1 win over Harvard and 3-1 loss to Kentucky on Sunday and Friday night respectively. Â Â

Gabrielle Vincent leads the Cardinals with eight points. Brooklynn Rivers led the Cardinals with two goals in a 3-1 over Harvard Sunday night. Â Rivers enters the game second on the team in points with two goals and two assists while Sarah Feola also has two goals and two assists on the year.Â

Taylor Bucklin leads the Cardinals in goal with a 4-1-1 record and three shutouts on the season. Â She has a 0.86 goals against average, allowing only four goals. Â She also has eight saves on the year. Â Â Â Â

Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 17th season with the Cardinals. She has guided Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING BALL STATE
Ball State enters the game with an overall record of 3-2-1, coming off a 4-0 loss against Loyola Marymouns. Sophomore midfielder Lauren Roll, sophomore midfielder/forward Emily Scott, and freshman forward Sam Kambol all come into the game leading the Cardinals with two goals on the season. Senior midfielder Gabby Veldman has added two assists of her own.Â

Junior goalkeepers Alyssa Heintschel and Tristin Stuteville have split time with both adding 12 saves. Â Â Â

Craig Roberts is in his seventh season at Ball State, where he won the regular season Mid-American Conference title in 2015. Before his stint with the Cardinals, he was the head coach at UT Martin.Â

SCOUTING HARVARD
 As of September 7th, the Bruins had a 0-2-3 record and tied Middle Tennessee 1-1 in double-overtime in their last game. Sophomore forward/midfielder Allie Svoboda, senior defender Brittany Coca, and freshman midfielder/defender Grace Whalen all lead the Bruins with one goal on the season. Four other players have added an assist on the season for Belmont.Â

Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Bukovec brings in 15 saves, a 1.33 goals against average, and has posted one shutout.

Heather Henson is entering her sixth season at Belmont. She has guided the Bruins to their first ever Ohio Valley Conference tournament appearance in 2012. Her 2014 team posted the highest grade point average in NCAA Division I. Before her stint with the Bruins, Henson coached at East Tennessee State.Â

   •The Cardinals have scored four goals in three matches this season.  The only time in school history the Cardinals have scored four or more goals in three consecutive games in a season was in 1986.  Louisville defeated Morehead State 5-0 on Oct. 8 , then defeated Morehead State again 4-1 on Oct. 10, and defeated Kentucky 7-0 on Oct. 11.    • Gabrielle Vincent's hat trick on Aug. 26 was the first hat trick since Emily Cardell scored on against then ranked No. 20 Marquette on Oct. 17, 2010.Â
   • This season the Cardinal roster has five international players.  Returners Inger Katrine Bjerke is from Norway while Tina Marolt is from Slovenia.  Joining the Cardinals this season is Sarah Feola from Quebec, Canada, Mhairi Fyfe from Livingston, Scotland, and Kathellen Sousa-Feitoza from Sao Vicente, Brazil.Â
   • Freshman Allison Whitfield has followed in her sister Casey's footsteps, playing at Louisville.  She also wears the number 23, same as Casey.  The also are similar in both play, Casey was one of the top play makers for the Cardinals and so far, Allison has lived up to thos expectations. Â
   • The Cardinals have two freshmen with national team experience this season.  Freshmen Sarah Feola and Gabrielle Kouzelos have played this summer with their national teams.
