LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lauren Hartlage shot a 1-over-par 145 through two rounds of play on Monday at the Minnesota Invitational, pacing the University of Louisville women's golf team to a second-place tie after 36 holes in Minneapolis, Minn.
Hartlage, who made her collegiate debut only a week ago, carded a team-best 1-under-par 71 in the first round of play at The Minikahda Club and capped the day two strokes back from a four-way, first-place tie. The freshman from Elizabethtown, Ky., native is tied for sixth after totaling eight birdies, while tapping in for par 20 times.
The Cardinals opened the day with a 9-over-par 297, sitting in fifth through the first round, but rebounded 6-over-par 294 – tied for the second-best team score of the day – to move into a tie with Purdue for second. Collectively, the Cardinals are leading the pack on par-4 scoring at 4.16 and have the second-most birdies with 28 in the 11-team field.
Sophomore Jacqueline Twitty also had a stellar day, shooting a 2-over-par 146 and is tied for eighth. The Chapin, S.C., native is tied with Hartlage for the third-most birdies with eight and boasts the best individual par-4 average at 3.85.
Though competing as an individual, freshman Delaney Shah continued a solid start to her career. After tying for 12th at last weekend's season-opener, the North Potomac, Md., native is tied for 17th behind a 5-over-par 149. Currently, she has Louisville's best par-5 average at 4.63. Last week, Shah averaged 4.75 on par-5 holes.
Senior Louise Oxner and junior Molly Skapik rounded out the Cardinals' scoring, with each tied for 25th at 7-over-par 151. Notably, Skapik was one of six players to earn an eagle during the day. She accomplished the feat in the second round on No. 14, a par-5, 476-yard hole.
Louisville, paired with Texas and Purdue, tees off the third and final round in a shotgun start at 10 a.m. ET.
