Cardinals host the Wildcats for a 'Red Out' on Friday Night
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The University of Louisville women's soccer team will host two teams at Lynn Stadium this weekend. The Cardinals will host Kentucky on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. for the Battle of the Bluegrass. Then on Sunday Louisville will host Harvard at 7:30 p.m. Â Â Â Â
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville enters the match with an overall record of 3-0-1 with a 4-0 wins over Toledo and UAB on Sunday and Friday night respectively. The Cardinals have scored four goals in three consecutive matches.Â
Gabrielle Vincent leads the Cardinals with seven points. Vincent scored a career-high three goals to lead the Cardinals to a 4-0 win over the Blazers on Friday. Â Allison Whitfield enters the game second on the team in points with three assists and one goal.Â
Taylor Bucklin lead the Cardinals in goal with a 3-0-1 record and three shutout son the season. Â She has a 0.26 goals against average, allowing just one goal. Â She also has five saves on the year. Â Â Â Â
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 17th season with the Cardinals. She has guided Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING KENTUCKY
Kentucky enters the game coming off a 3-2 loss against South Florida and a 0-2-1 overall record.  Freshman forward Marissa Bosco comes into the game leading the Wildcats with one goal and two assists on the season. Junior midfielder Kary Keen and freshman midfielder Gina Crosetti have both added a goal of their own. Junior defender Kelly Novak adds the Wildcats' only other assist. Freshman goalkeeper Evangeline Soucie comes in with seven saves and a 2.17 goals against average. Â
Jon Lipsitz is in his eighth season at Kentucky, where he has qualified for the NCAA tournament four times, and reached the Sweet 16 in 2014. Before his stint with the Wildcats, he was the head coach at Charlotte.Â
SERIES HISTORY
The Cardinals and Wildcats will meet for the 20th time in series history. Last season Kentucky took a 2-0 victory in the Battle for the Bluegrass. Kentucky leads the overall series 13-5-1, and have won five straight games against Louisville.
SCOUTING HARVARD
As of August 30th, the Crimson have a 1-1 record and beat Army 1-0 in their last game. Senior forwards Rachel Garcia and Margaret Purce come in leading Harvard with one goal apiece. Freshman midfielder/forward Maggie Basta has added the Crimson's only assist on the season. Senior goalkeeper Lizzie Durrack brings in 8 saves, a 1.50 goals against average, and has posted one shutout.

Chris Hamblin is in his first season at Harvard. He served as an assistant for the Crimson for five seasons before the promotion.Â

•The Cardinals have scored four goals in three consecutive matches this season.  The only time in school history the Cardinals have scored four or more goals in a season was in 1986.  Louisville defeated Morehead State 5-0 on Oct. 8 , then defeated Morehead State again 4-1 on Oct. 10, and defeated Kentucky 7-0 on Oct. 11. • Gabrielle Vincent's hat trick on Aug. 26 was the first hat trick since Emily Cardell scored on against then ranked No. 20 Marquette on Oct. 17, 2010.Â
• This season the Cardinal roster has five international players.  Returners Inger Katrine Bjerke is from Norway while Tina Marolt is from Slovenia.  Joining the Cardinals this season is Sarah Feola from Quebec, Canada, Mhairi Fyfe from Livingston, Scotland, and Kathellen Sousa-Feitoza from Sao Vicente, Brazil.Â
• Freshman Allison Whitfield has followed in her sister Casey's footsteps, playing at Louisville.  She also wears the number 23, same as Casey.  The also are similar in both play, Casey was one of the top play makers for the Cardinals and so far, Allison has lived up to thos expectations. Â
• The Cardinals have two freshmen with national team experience this season.  Freshmen Sarah Feola and Gabrielle Kouzelos have played this summer with their national teams and both are invited to try out of the upcoming World Cup teams. Â
VINCENT EARNS NATIONAL AND ACC HONORS
    Sophomore defender Gabrielle Vincent was named the NSCAA Division I College Player of the Week  and the ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 30.Â
   Vincent totaled seven points for the week on three goals and an assist in 4-0 wins over UAB and Toledo last week. She scored her first career hat trick against UAB with goals in the 32nd,72nd and 84th minutes leading the Cardinals. On the defensive end against, the centerback helped hold the Blazers without a shot for the entire game while Louisville secured the shutout.  Two days later against Toledo, Vincent found Alison Price in the 21st minute for the second score of the game. She also blocked a few shots in front of the box as Louisville earned its third straight shutout of the season.
SOLID START
Louisville is off to a 3-0-1 start, marking the best start since 2012. Â The Cardinals were 4-0 in the first four games of 2012. Â The team went on to start the year at 6-1. Â The Cardinals best start in school history was during the 2010 season with a 7-1 start. Â
